Smokeless Fuels

Smokeless fuel, or manufactured solid fuels are ovoid briquettes that have been manufactured to give good heat output, long burn times and reduce carbon emissions.
These fuels come in many different shapes and sizes and all have different qualities. Speak to us about your requirements and we can advise you on the best fuel for your needs.
All of the manufactured solid fuels that we stock are made right here in the U.K. and we only stock fuels that we are happy to use ourselves. 
We currently stock the following.

Excel

Made by Oxbow this is perfect for most closed appliances. Slumbers very well and burns with very little air. Consistently voted the number one favourite fuel for narrowboats. great for smaller appliances, cookers, AGA Rayburns and room heaters where heat output is the most important factor.

Newheat

Again an Oxbow product, marketed by them for open fires but in reality it performs extremely well on every appliance. Great choice if you have an open fire and a closed appliance, you can use one fuel on both with Newheat. Our favourite fuel, slightly less expensive than Excel with very little ash. Slumbers well with great predictability.

Red

The budget offering from Oxbow. The briquette is similar to Newheat however, you do get slightly more ash and a little less heat. Popular on the canal network, suitable for closed appliances and open fires.

Briteflame

Made by CPL this is especially well suited for open fires and appliances that have a larger draught. Gives a lovely large flame as well as superb heat output. Low ash, easy to light and the least expensive fuel that we stock. Suitable for stoves and closed appliances as well as open grate. Whats not to like?

Supertherm

Another CPL product. Very well established in the marketplace and the go to fuel choice for many marinas and garage forecourts.

Phurnacite

Again CPL product. Produced mainly for cookers, AGA and Rayburns that have a smaller firebox. The small briquettes are very hard and fall together to make a tight firebed that produces great heat and stays in.

Anthracite

Welsh anthracite available as large and small nuts or grains. great fuel for most closed appliances and cookers. Extremely high carbon content so it burns for longer. Many customers mix anthracite nuts with a smokeless ovoid to make their fuel burn for longer. Anthracite grains are the only fuel for Trianco boilers. Low ash and great heat. The quality of anthracite makes it a naturally smokeless fuel

All of these fuels are available as 50kg open sacks or we pre-pack them in 20kg bio degradable polypropylene bags that you can reuse afterwards.
